Cookies

Nami uses the minimum storage required to work, and none of it follows you around the internet. Here is the complete list.

What we store, and why

Sign-in cookies (strictly necessary): our authentication provider, Clerk, sets the cookies required to keep you signed in securely. Without them, the app cannot know who you are. These are essential and cannot be switched off while using an account.

Your language (a cookie): the language you choose is kept in one small cookie, nami-locale, so each page arrives already written in it. It holds the language code and nothing else.

Your energy level (local storage, on your device): when you set your energy level, it is saved in your browser’s local storage so the interface can meet you at the same level when you return. Without an account, this value stays on your device. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to our servers for visitors, and clearing your browser storage removes it. With an account, the level you choose is also kept on your account, so it follows you to another device.

The room (local storage, on your device): if you hold the page light or dark rather than letting your energy level decide, that choice is stored the same way — locally, and yours to clear at any time.

Reading comfort (local storage, on your device): if you switch on the dyslexia-friendly typeface, that preference is stored the same way — locally, yours to clear at any time.

The sidebar (local storage, on your device): if you close the sidebar by hand, that is remembered the same way, locally, until you open it again.

Still (local storage, on your device): if you switch on Still in Settings, so that nothing on the page moves, that choice is stored the same way — locally, yours to clear at any time.

Reading-aloud speed (local storage, on your device): if you choose a slower or faster speed for reading replies aloud, it is stored the same way — locally, yours to clear at any time.

What we do not use

No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No analytics fingerprinting. No third-party pixels that report your visit to anyone else. There is nothing here to consent to beyond the storage the product needs to function — which is why you do not see a cookie banner.

Managing storage

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Clearing cookies signs you out and hands the language back to your browser; clearing local storage resets your energy level, your room, your reading preference and the sidebar to the defaults — nothing else happens, and nothing is held hostage. With an account, your energy level comes back from your account the next time a page loads.

Still and the reading-aloud speed go back to their defaults the same way.
